How to Use Your Mac Address Book
The Mac Address Book lets you track a wide variety of information, from names and numbers to business information, email addresses, chat names, and related online content. Beyond adding contacts to your list, there are other tips and tricks for making the most of your Address Book features.
Make the Most of Your Address Book
Once you have your contacts added to your Mac Address Book, there are several things you can do to manage those contact lists and use the Book.
- You can opt to only see the contact cards instead of the full list with cards by clicking on Card Only. You’ll see this button at the bottom left corner of the list.
- To find one of your contacts, just type his/her name in the Search field or scroll through your list of contacts (use the arrow buttons at the bottom right corner).
- You have the ability to create a Smart Group to group your contacts by a common search criteria, such as Company. This way when you want to find all of your contacts who work at a certain company, you’ll already have them in your specific group.
- Go to the File menu and select New Smart Group.
- Enter a name in the Smart Group Name field (i.e. Company).
- Select the specific search information (the specific name of the company).
- Click OK. Any of your contacts who match this criteria will be added to this Smart Group.
- You can email someone in your Address Book by just selecting their name from the list or card and clicking on the label next to the email address. This opens a pop-up menu where you can select Send Email.
- To email a group of people, go to the File menu and select New Group. Enter a name for this new group, such as Tuesday Meeting. Then go to All Contacts to see your list of contacts and drag the names of the people you want to email into your new group list.
The Mac Address Book is more than just a holding place for your contact information. With these tips and tricks you can use the Address Book to form Smart Groups, as well as send individual or group emails with just a few clicks.
