He sat in a boxer’s robe and wore boxing gloves just before he shattered his own Guinness World Record for speed texting earlier in November. Brazilian 16-year-old Marcel Fernandes Filho set the new World Record for texting using an iPhone 6 Plus and completing the task in just 17 seconds flat using a Fleksy keyboarding app.
Filho said after his win, “I’m not really sure why I was faster on the iPhone. It could be the slight difference in screen size, it could be how responsive the touchscreen is. I’m glad I can use Fleksy on both devices now though.” And Fleksy is very happy to share the credit for this new record.
The winning text message you have to type when competing for a Guinness World Record title doesn’t exactly roll of the tongue (even though it apparently rolls off of Filho’s fingertips).
“The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human.”
This isn’t Filho’s first run at the World Record. Back in May of 2014 he broke the then current record using a Samsun Galaxy S4 with a Fleksy keyboard app and setting a time of 18.19 seconds. Since that time he says he has been hoping that Fleksy would be available for an Apple device, and he got his wish.
