When Apple, Inc. introduced iOS 8 it also opened the doors for new and updated apps for iPhones and iPads – including Swype. This keyboarding app by Nuance combines intuitive features that can really make typing not only more efficient, but a versatile and comprehensive function. It has shot to the top of the App Store for keyboarding options.
As the name suggests, users “swipe” their fingers across the keyboard, forming a chain of letters that form words. This means no more pecking at the keys with awkward attempts to hit the right, tiny keys. Swype also features what is known as a predictive text engine – it suggests words and phrases based on the patterns of swiping. In other words – it predicts what you are going to type and presents it to you as a one-touch option.
The Vice President of Nuance’s mobile solutions, Aaron Sheedy, says that the company is getting a great response from those who are using iOS 8 and Swype on their devices. “People love the speed and ease of quickly Swyping from one letter to the next – and it’s incredibly cool to see the words and phrases you are about to Swype automatically appear as you go…”
Another technical advantage Swype has over other keyboarding apps is the vast amount of languages available – a total of 21 – along with emojis available in US and UK English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. So if you’re pleased with the new Swype app and you type, “I’m very excited about this app!” the feature will suggest an emoji of an excited face.
