Did you pick up the new iPhone 6 and now you don’t know what to do with your older iPhone? Manything is relaunching an app that lets you and other iPhone users turn old devices – iPhones, iPads, iPods – into live streaming cameras.
The app works by using the camera on your old device as a security camera of sorts, complete with the ability to be remotely controlled and inclusion of motion sensor alerts. You can also turn the power ON and OFF remotely, control audio, and use the device’s flashlight tool to shed more light on the subject.
Manything is IFTTT compatible, meaning that you can link your accounts with the Manything Channel and control your recording on the go. You can also adjust the motion sensitivity feature, which means that you can control what types of motions will trigger an alert on your device. There are multiple recording modes with adjustable video quality settings, a mode for stills, and a time-lapse option.
Maything claims that turning your old Apple device into a security camera is cheaper than investing in a separate system, and current users are recording more than 2.5 years of video every day – and growing at a rate of 45% every month. The company says they are working on improvements for future versions of the Manything app, including a new remote control and the ability to share events.
