Football fans will have more options than ever for the 2014 season when it comes to keeping up with all of their favorite players and teams. On Wednesday, August 19th Apple announced that the new NFL Now app is launching for Apple TV. The football fun doesn’t end there, though. The plans are also in place now to bring by September 4th the NFL Now programming to even more devices, including Kindle Fire, Amazon Fire TV, and Yahoo Screen.
The NFL Now app provides users with breaking NFL news, a video library, and game highlights. It also allows users to personalize their experiences. They can set preferences to follow certain players or teams and receive up to 4,800 minutes of specialized coverage each week. Users will also have access to live video streaming of press conferences. The app, however, does not provide live streaming of games. Users will need to get NFL Mobile for that experience.
The NFL Now app is free, but for less than $2 more, users can upgrade to NFL Now Plus to receive instant in-game highlights and have the ability to create their own custom video streams from NFL videos.
Users who want to download the apps can do so on their iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone, and now on their Apple TV channel by accessing it through their main menu screen. For those who are waiting to access the NFL Now app on their other devices, this option should be ready in time for kickoff of the regular 2014 season.
