The more you use it, the more you might love it, and the more you probably want to find ways to save battery life on your iPhone. Since iOS updates usually include the latest energy-saving technologies, start by checking to see if your iPhone is running the latest operating system. Then view your battery usage by following these steps:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap Usage.
- Select Battery Usage.
You can also use these tips to get the most out of your phone’s battery.
- Take your case off your phone when you charge it. Some cases hold in heat, and excessive heat can drain you battery.
- Keep your phone away from extreme temperature changes. Above 95 degrees F the battery can be permanently damaged.
- Adjust your screen brightness. Use the Auto-Brightness setting to automatically adjust the screen brightness. Do this by going to Settings > Display Brightness, and then turning Auto-Brightness to “On”.
- Dim your overall screen brightness. Swipe up from the bottom to open the Control Center, then drag your Brightness bar to the left.
- Turn off Location Services by going to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
- Turn off Parallax by going to Settings > General > Accessibility, and then switch “on” Reduce Motion.
- Limit your notification widgets. Go through your Edit menu at the bottom of the Today screen to select which widgets you can live without for a while.
Once you have made these energy-saving adjustments, go back and check your battery usage. There should be an improvement to see a better battery life on your iPhone, but if problems persist you may need to invest in a new battery all together.
