The hottest new game for mobile devices was removed from the App Store by Apple this past week after it hit number 1 in all sales categories. The ensuing press coverage had parents outraged and Apple execs scrambling to yank the hugely popular marijuana-themed video game, “Weed Firm”, which allows players to grow and distribute cannabis via the main character “Ted Growing”. The game has numerous strains of marijuana available for consumption and sale, and players must battle rival drug dealers and crooked policemen.
Apple is becoming more strict as to what types of games and apps they allow for download through their various platforms. A statement on the website of the group who created Weed Firm, Manitoba Games, acknowledged that it may have been too extreme saying, “The Apple version might need to be censored a bit to comply with Apple’s strictest requirement since they are going to be looking very attentively at what we submit from now on.”
The company statement delivered through “Ted” continued, “We do not want kids playing Weed Firm, but we firmly believe that adults should have a choice to do whatever the hell they want as long as they are not hurting anybody in the process. If we let hypoctrites determine what content is suitable for us we will soon all be watching Teletubbies instead of Breaking Bad.”
Since its release, Weed Firm has been rated 17+, and makes no claims to be a clean, innocent game. It received almost 5,000 five-star reviews in the iTunes Music Store on its way to the top as it passed Candy Crush and Angry Birds in popularity.
“Weed Firm” Mobile Game Walk-Through
Below is a video walk-through of Weed Firm that shows you exactly what you will find in the game. For example, players can choose to plant any number of marijuana strains in clay, metal, or alien pots and must remember to water their plants regularly. Players can even opt to do such real-life tasks as play vinyl records to their plants to make them happier and grow faster, or smoke joints with their clients to make them more relaxed. Enjoy!
