According to Nike CEO Mark Parker, the current line of Apple Watch devices is a “very geeky” kind of wearable technology, but he believes that in the future that tide will turn to trendy products that consumers want to wear for the cool factor. And when that time comes, Parker hinted in a recent interview with Bloomberg’s Stephanie Ruhle that Nike may very well be a part of that trendy movement.
Nike has a history of working with Apple, Inc. on a variety of health and fitness aspects of products, so teaming up for stylish wearable technology is not far from the realm of possibilities. Parker goes on to say that “Technologically we can do things together that we couldn’t do independently. So yeah, that’s part of our plan, to expand the whole digital frontier in terms of wearables, and go from what we say is tens of millions of users – right now there’s 25 million Nike+ users – to hundreds of millions.” Making a sleek partnership in the future even more likely is the fact that Apple’s CEO Tim Cook also serves on Nike’s Board of Directors – and has done for almost 10 years.
