As more and more leaks of photos and specs from the as-of-yet unreleased iPhone 6 hit the internet, some observers are now claiming that battery power may be an issue. Due to the fact that the iPhone 6 will have a bigger screen than its predecessors, it stands to reason that it will use more battery power to light up the screen.
The 4.7 inch iPhone 6 will have an 1800mAh battery, while the new 5.5 inch iPhone will come with a 2500mAh battery. Both of these batteries are actually larger than before with an increase of 15% and 60% respectively, however when compared to the percentage increase in screen size they might not be large enough, (17.5% and 37.5%).
Another possible factor regarding battery drain could be the fact that the new iPhone 6 will reportedly have many more pixels than the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S, at a rate of 1704 x 960. If these numbers are correct that would mean that the new iPhone will be pumping out extra power for all of those fun games we all love playing.
However, the one savior of the iPhone 6 battery may come in the form of the new Apple A8 computer chip which will be an upgrade from the iPhone 5S which ran on an A7 chip. The new chip could conceivably process data faster and more efficiently than before, thus reducing the drain on the battery.
These rumors should definitely concern the executives at Apple, especially considering the fact that many owners already complain about the battery life of the iPhone 5 and 5S.
